Hartalika Tritiya (commonly known as Hartalika Teej) is a major Hindu festival observed by married women and unmarried girls for marital happiness, the long life of their spouses, and desirable life partners.
Celebrated primarily across Maharashtra, North and Central India, and Nepal, it falls on the third day (Tritiya) of the bright fortnight in the lunar month of Bhadrapada, immediately preceding Ganesh Chaturthi.
